It is 2024, Austin stumbles across an account showcasing a stunning lineup of neo-vintage watches. From Seiko, to Credor, RADO and OMG is Waltham at the party too? Neo-vintage watches never looked so sauce. The curator behind the account, Joshua Tasdemir aka Demir, had an incredible eye for a criminally underrated era of design.
The Demir + Monbrey collaboration is not a vintage remake. Joshua Tasdemir has spent years collecting the best of 80s & 90s neo-vintage quartz, from Credor dress pieces to overlooked Seiko and Rado finds. This collaboration takes that era’s attitude and builds a new watch around it.
JOSHUA TASDEMIR
Joshua Tasdemir is a full-time artist based in Seattle with a lifelong passion for watches. His background in industrial design and engineering shapes his daily art and design practice, blending technical precision with creative exploration. Fascinated by the neo-vintage era, Joshua continually refines his design language through collecting, drawing, and even creating watches of his own.
OUR THOUGHTS
Demir wasn't another reseller, flipping neo-vintage watches. He lived and breathed them, adding his own flair, customizing them with hand cut stone dials, even painting some, Demir and his team had a vision:
To create an original design from scratch that revamped to his deep love for the 80s and 90s quartz era.
Fast forward it’s Oct 2025, New York City, WINDUP. Joshua stopped though to film watches with the legendary Max Ma, aka Captain Max of Studio Anachronist. They are headed to Iceland to film one of the most epic watch videos YouTube has ever seen.
“Wrist Daddy!” “Demir?” Austin shouts across the hall and first contact is made, Houston We Have landed. Over hours of talking design, travel, food and a shared love for the aesthetic of vintage timepieces, it was clear we were destined to join forces. Demir’s vision hit all the right notes for Monbrey, what came next was a no brainer.
CREATE THE WORLD
The goal was to invite the breath of neo-vintage quartz movement/design language and reinterpret it into a piece that feels more like refined/utilitarian jewelry.
It needed to be ultra-slim, insanely comfortable, and striking on the wrist.
This collaboration is a fashion accessory in its purest form, a fashion accessory that serves two purposes, add some drip to vibes and of course, tell the time. The neo-vintage era is goated but it has its flaws, most watches being made 50+ years ago are now delicate, but Monbrey knew they could solve the problem and make a watch that was ready to wear in 2026.
