A few months ago, we introduced Monbrey’s special Hong Kong limited edition watch, inspired by one of the city’s most nostalgic elements — Hoi Tong glass, once a familiar sight across old Hong Kong 🇭🇰 The first edition sold out within just a few days. We heard from many of you who missed out, so we’re excited to announce the release of Version 2.0. This new design draws from an even more vintage aesthetic than the original.

When people think of Hong Kong’s history and heritage, common imagery often comes to mind — the iconic skyline, traditional junk boats, and the fusion of East and West. While these visuals reflect how outsiders may see Hong Kong, they don’t fully capture the heart and soul of our home.

For this Hong Kong Limited Edition, we drew inspiration from one of the city’s nostalgic elements — the Vintage Begonia glass (海棠玻璃), once a familiar sight in old Hong Kong. Known for its delicate craftsmanship and timeless beauty, this glass design reflects the subtle elegance of a bygone era. We’ve reimagined this aesthetic on the watch dial, allowing light and shadow to dance across its surface, much like the way it once adorned countless homes across the city.

With this model, we've achieved something rare: a truly Made-in-Hong Kong leather strap. This means the leather isn't just crafted here-it's sourced from the Sheung Shui Slaughterhouse and fully tanned in the city at the Shui Hing Tannery Factory.

Shui Hing is Hong Kong's only remaining tannery. Founded in 1985, they carry on a century-old local industry that is quicky disappearing. Because local demand is so low nowadays, they only process the leather from the slaughterhouse once or twice a year. This makes out strap an incredibly rare item, tied directly to the rhythm of local Hong Kong production.
